Or checking the temperature of your refrigerator to make sure that it is not too cold. It should be 4 degrees C.

Dressing warmly in winter can reduce your need for excess heating. Having your heat up high and getting around in a t-shirt is pure madness and is dramatically increasing your heating bills.

Spend a night a week without the TV or computer on, this will give you more quality time with your loved ones

throw away your plasma TV, they use way too much energy, if you stand near one you can feel the heat coming off it.

Solar hot water heater, most will pay for themselves in a few years then you'll have free hot water.

Insulating your walls and floors and checking your ceiling insulation it may need topping up

Installing a permanent grey water system

Put a glasshouse on the north face of your home to capture winter sun and have closable ducts to let the hot air into your home.

Put a shade house on the south side of the house and planet it with moisture loving planets and have low closable vents to let in the cool air in summer

install some high windows on the north side of the house to let out hot air in summer.
